Game developers collaborating intensively during a hackathon event

The Standard Rhythm

How a typical 48-hour JamForge event unfolds from the starting pistol to the final showcase.

01

Theme Reveal

The official theme is announced via livestream exactly at the start time. Strict rules on secret theme elements ensure nobody starts coding early.

02

Team Formation

Go solo or use the first two hours to find teammates in our dedicated community channels. Pitch ideas, divide roles, and set up your repository.

03

The Grind

Forty hours of intense development. Utilize our provided asset kits if you need them, or build everything from scratch. Mentors are available in the chat.

04

Judging & Play

Submissions lock down. Participants spend the next week playing and rating each other's games before the final industry judges award the prizes.

The Ground Rules

We keep bureaucracy low, but a level playing field is essential. Here are the core constraints applied to all official JamForge competitions.

Team Size

Entries can be submitted by solo developers or teams of up to exactly four members. All team members must be registered on the platform before submission locks.

Engines

Bring your own tools. Unity, Unreal, Godot, custom frameworks, or obscure retro engines are all permitted unless a specific jam is billed as engine-restricted.

Assets & Code

Pre-existing generic code libraries are fine. Pre-made art assets must be declared upon submission and cannot constitute the core mechanic of the entry.
